Daily 10 - August 23

#10 - A reminder to always trust your gut, my gut said bench Clay Buchholz yesterday, but my eyes looked at his past 5 starts and even against the Angels I couldn't do it.  Whoops.

#9 - Frank Francisco is what's wrong with the closer role and why every offseason I criticize teams that pony up for free agent closers.  Despite his poor performances he will continue in the role this year and at least the start of 2013...because he's being paid to close.

#8 - Tommy Hunter hasn't had a start in over three months without giving up a home run, Adrian Beltre hit three of them and lesser knowns like David Murphy and Michael Young also feasted on the overmatched arm.

#7 - James McDonald teased us, if you get lit up by the Padres (even though they're currently scorching hot) you lose all trust in your owners.  Drop him.

#6 - Jay Bruce has responded well from his mental break, .419 with 11 R 5 HR 12 RBI since he returned August 12th.

#5 - Chris Capuano was one of those home/road split arms that was easy to own because you just started him at home and in good matchups on the road.  Getting lit up in Chavez Ravine vs. the hapless Giants?  Uh-oh.  Might be time for shallow leaguer's to move on.

#4 - Aaron Hill, you are ridiculous.  He's not just feasting on Houston as he had a .421 3 R 1 HR 4 RBI 2 SB series vs. Miami too.

#3 - Welcome back, Dan Straily!  Say thank you to Bartolo Colon and the rest of the cheating Dominican's (look up the numbers, it's scary) as after his mandatory 10 days in Sacremento he'll be back with the A's for the duration.

#2 - Streamer for today?  Easy, Jake Westbrook.  He's on a roll and draws the Astros.

#1 - Lastly, Chris Sale is making a case for the Cy Young.  He blistered through a brutal Yankees lineup Wednesday night.  Lost in all the Strasburg hoop-la is a similar story on the South Side.  Sale's innings are being limited too, and yes I stand on the side of the argument that says if you're in the race then let them pitch.
