#10 - Kris Medlen has now given up 9 earned runs in his last 10 games. He has had more strikeouts in two of his games than he has earned runs over the last 7 weeks. It goes without saying, but he's pitching out of his skull right now...and there's no reason it'll stop.
#9 - Hope you streamed Ichiro! yesterday, 7 hits and 4 stolen bases? Has he even done that in a full week this year?
#8 - Thank Rafael Soriano for the 2-for-1 special in Wednesday's double header, 2 saves in 1 day. The same number of saves Joel Hanrahan has netted in the last month.
#7 - It's not being reported yet, but it feels like Asdrubal Cabrera's season is over. He was pulled from the game Wednesday for wrist soreness, the 4th time he has missed time this month with the issue.
#6 - Hey, Pablo Sandoval, welcome to the party! Where have you been? Three hits, a home run, a stolen base, and three RBI yesterday. Those were his first RBI in two weeks, home run since before the All Star break, and stolen base of the year.
#5 - Good bounce back performance from Felix Hernandez who owners were wary mentally checked out after Labor Day. Safely deploy him in his last two starts too.
#4 - Surprise, surprise Justin Verlander went over 100 pitches again. Trivia question, when was the last time he did not make it 100 pitches in a start? Kudos to Oakland for making him work to get his outs and get him out of the game after 6 but it wasn't enough.
#3 - Brett Anderson and Max Scherzer have carried teams recently, but both bowed out with potentially (regular) season ending injuries this week. Move along if you're still in the race.
#2 - Chasing for saves? Frank Francisco's elbow is barking again, add Jon Rauch and Bobby Parnell in that order, preferably both. It's the last two weeks, don't waste a roster spot on a slumping and banged up Brett Lawrie-type.
#1 - Miguel Cabrera wants none of this Mike Trout MVP nonsense, bad ankle and all he has clubbed six homers in the last week and is trying to carry the Tigers to the playoffs. |
