Daily 10 - September 4

| More

No. 10-Kris Medlen tossed his second complete game shutout in his last four starts on Monday.  Medlen has been phenomenal since landing in the starting rotation for the Braves.  The twelve strikeout performance marked the seventh consecutive start where Medlen allowed one earned run or less.

No. 9-Adrian Beltre has stormed out of the gates in September.  Beltre smacked his third home run in as many days against the Royals.  All three home runs have been solo shots, but Beltre has raised his average to an impressive .319 on the season on the heels of his recent hot streak.

No. 8-Jimmy Rollins continued his hot streak on Monday, collecting his seventeenth home run on the season.  Rollins has now hit in ten of his last eleven games and has an outside shot at a 25-25 season if he maintains his power stroke over the last month.

No. 7-James Shields has been throwing well over the last two months.  Monday Shields earned his thirteenth victory with a rare win over the Yankees.  Shields scattered five hits and three earned runs while leading the Rays to the win over the Bronx Bombers.

No. 6-Alejandro De Aza has been an instant contributor since returning to the White Sox lineup after a stint on the disabled list.  De Aza homered in his first at bat Sunday off Justin Verlander, and followed that up with a two stolen base night on Monday against the Twins.  The Sox are locked in to a dog fight for the division title with the Tigers and will hope to benefit from the boost in the lineup De Aza should provide.

No. 5-Garrett Jones continues to impress in his breakout season.  On Monday, the Pirates outfielder enjoyed his second straight three hit game.  His performance over the last month of the season will go a long way in establishing his draft position going in to next season.

No. 4-Another quality start on Monday allowed Jeff Samardzija to lower his earned run average below four for the first time in quite a while.  Samardzija lasted seven innings while only allowing one earned run, but got little run support as the Cubs were bested by the Nationals 2-1.

No. 3-It is safe to say that Fernando Rodney has seized the opportunity to close for the Rays and he shows no interest in handing the job back over to Kyle Farnsworth.  Rodney picked up his 41st save of the season on Monday, tying him with Jim Johnson for the Major League lead.

No. 2-If you have a roster spot open and are looking to latch on to a hot bat, you will want to consider the A's Josh Donaldson.  Donaldson smacked his fourth home run in five games on Monday and could give your team a late season boost to push you up the standings.

No. 1-Jose Constanza was red hot down the stretch last season when he was called up for the Braves.  Constanza is back up in the majors, but don't expect a repeat performance from last season.  The Braves made a push to solidify their bench this summer and their depth will mean little playing time for the outfielder.  If the Braves were sold on Constanza and his bat they wouldn't have made moves to acquire players like Reed Johnson.
