10 – What R.A. Dickey is doing right now is really unbelievable. Two straight one-hit shutouts may never happen again in our lifetime. I’m still on the fence with him though because he’s never been more than an average pitcher. Now he’s most likely the starting pitcher for the National League in the All Star Game. Tread carefully with him.

9 – Another big game for Los Angeles Angels rookie Mike Trout. He went 4-for-4 Tuesday night and scored four runs. This kid has made a huge impact for Los Angeles. They win when he plays well because he’s clearly the catalyst for them at the top of the lineup. He may have some small rookie droughts from time to time, but Trout will end the season a Top 10 fantasy outfielder. Not bad for a rookie.

8 – Billy Butler has been getting all the reps at first base for the Kansas City Royals during interleague play over the last week and is moving in on first base eligibility. This has hurt Eric Hosmer owners who have been playing him, but at weeks end both will be back in the lineup. Both should be started in all formats right now.

7 – Jered Weaver is set to come off the disabled list, so get him in your lineups immediately. It looks like the back issues were just minor. Start him with confidence.

6 – If you’re in need for some starting pitching, take a look at Trevor Cahill. He has won his last three starts and has been dominant in all of them, allowing just two earned runs total in those games. He has 20 strikeouts in 23.1 innings as well.

5 – Just when it looked like Phil Hughes and Clay Buchholz were making serious progress, they both took a turn for the worse. Hughes gave up six runs in his Wednesday start, while Buchholz gave up five of his own Tuesday night. Both should be on rosters, but only used when the matchup is favorable.

4 – Brett Myers had arguably the worst night a closer has ever had. In just .2 innings pitched, he allowed eight hits and five earned runs before getting pulled. He’s been solid all season until this implosion, so don’t get too worried, but wow did he kill earned run average totals for his fantasy owners this week.

3 – Albert Pujols is on an absolute tear right now. He’s homered twice in his last three games and has 12 RBI in 12 games. He’s got the average up to .258 and has 11 home runs. After a rough start to the season, Pujols is getting back into form.

2 – After an amazing May, Giancarlo Stanton has had a brutal June. Stanton has hit just one home run with three RBI. His average is .180 so far in the month and has 22 strikeouts in 61 at-bats. It looks like he’s going to have his ups and downs all season, so be careful with him.

1 – Brandon Phillips is in the zone right now, delivering multi-hit games in six of his last 12. He’s now hitting .292 and has homered four times this month. The Cincinnati Reds are clicking as a whole right now, and Phillips and Joey Votto are the main reasons.
