Daily 10: July 2

#10 - We have been harping away at getting ahead of the trade deadline for weeks now, especially regarding closers, and with the All Star break approaching owners must pounce now.  One that may not have to wait for the trade deadline is Jared Burton.  With Matt Capps on the shelf and Glen Perkins struggling, Burton is in a prime position.  His struggles vs. lefties leaves him vulnerable for a platoon, but there's legit 20 save potential here.  Get him.

#9 - I'm not yet willing to buy into Travis Wood, although I did start him vs. Houston, but his matchup Friday vs. the Mets who he just shut out is a great streaming opportunity.

#8 - Speaking of streaming opportunities, this is your reminder to take advantage of the left handed inept Pirates as little owned J.A. Happ and Dallas Kuechel get them this week.

#7 - Franklin Morales' hot streak may be legit.  More ground balls, more swinging strikes, more strikeouts, increased velocity.  That's the receipe for an out of nowhere breakout.

#6 - Brandon League is still owned in almost half of all ESPN leagues.  There's no reason why.  He's not a good source of strikeouts and even if he does regain the closer job it will be for at most 3 weeks.  DUmp him already.

#5 - If it's not clear by now, I love streaming pitchers.  Lefties have dominated the Cubs all season and Mike Minor has been better as of late.  I'd gamble.

#4 - Weekly lineup owners are in a pickle right now with Will Middlebrooks.  I'm starting him over BJ Upton and Michael Young in one league, but benching him in favor of Paul Goldschmidt, Anthony Rizzo, Miguel Cabrera, Pablo Sandoval, and Ike Davis in another.  Hope that helps.

#3 - Mark Reynolds sat two of the three games this weekend.  Weekly owners would be wise to sit him and daily owners should only start him vs. lefties until a split becomes more clear.

#2 - Max Scherzer has been insane lately, this isn't new as he's had slow starts before.  Expect two more dominating performances before the break.

#1 - The Cliff Lee Win Watch has now entered July!  He gets the Mets on July 4th, and I'm not optimistic.  Why am I starting him anyway?  Glutton for punishment, I guess.  He's too good of a pitcher to keep this up, if his owner has finally tired of him get him for $0.50 on the dollar.
