#10 - It's time to take notice of Franklin Morales. Yes, it was the Seattle Mariners AAA offense Thursday night, but he's shattering his career numbers in ground balls and swinging strikes. As we get to that stage in the season in which waivers are relatively barren, he's worth a shot.
#9 - So is Dallas Keuchel. We recommended you take a shot on him vs. San Diego yesterday and he delivered. Given his poor K:BB rate we don't expect this to be a long term solution, but with the whiff happy Pirates that can't hit lefties on tap he's due for one more trot out on the mound before sending him back to free agency.
#8 - Andrew Cashner returned with a vengance, taking a no hitter into the 6th inning and striking out 9 on the night. He walks way too many to start every night out, but in Petco? Absolutely. Too bad he won't start at home until at least mid July though, so unless your bench is deep leave him alone for now.
#7 - Dustin Ackley is now wallowing away in the 8 hole on a punchless offense. If you haven't dropped him by now, do it already. We expect a modest bounce back in the second half, so keep tabs on him, but he was always an uninteresting 15/15 ceiling guy that never warranted the preseason hype.
#6 - After another solid outing, A.J. Burnett has dropped his ERA to 3.31, which includes a 12 ER 2 2/3 IP lemon against St. Louis in early May. How is he owned in only 67% of Yahoo! leagues? Pick him up already!
#5 - Sorry owners of Nationals bats, the team comes back to sea level today. Hope you enjoyed the Colorado massacre this weekend, all you can do is cross your fingers that it jumpstarts a hot streak.
#4 - Michael Young has been a mess all season, but is now in the midst of a 6 game hitting streak, 4 of which were multi hit games. Perhaps he's finally coming out of his funk. Although the periph's (decreasing BB%, increasing GB%, steep drop in OPS) suggest this may be an anamoly.
#3 - Chris Young homered for the second night in a row, his first two since going on the DL mid April. After coming out of the gate guns a blazin' he has been completely lost since coming back from the injury as his average has also nose dived from .410 to .226 and he has fallen to 8th in the order. If he was dropped in your league it's worth a speculative add, but make him do it a couple more times before moving him into the starting lineup.
#2 - Not the debut Trevor Bauer owners were looking for. Didn't make it to 5 innings and had as many walks (3) as he did strikeouts (3). This is what happens when a young gun barely sees 100 IP's above A ball, just ask Julio Teheran circe 2011. Usually I preach patience but this start suggests he just isn't ready.
#1 - When will the Giants give up another run? With Matt Cain on the bump tonight can the streak continue?
