#10 - I've been back and forth about whether to add Drew Stubbs in a league his impatient owner dumped him for about a week.  I missed a 7/15 5 R 1 HR 5 RBI 2 SB series, but he's in Coors this weekend against the Rockies all lefty starting rotation (.276/.349/.485 career vs. southpaws).  Add him now.

#9 - Take your pick, do you want to talk about the Astros new veteran closer (Francisco Cordero) or the Brewers (Francisco Rodriguez)?  They've both blown two games in epic fashion since getting the job in the last week and will lose their job inevitably, but the Astros backup (Wilton Lopez) is universally un-owned.  I guess I chose for you, change that!

#8 - Speaking of messy closer situations, the Angels have been sloppy lately.  After being near perfect all season Scott Downs has had three rough outings since the All Star break.  Ernestro Frieri has been better, but the walk numbers are creeping from concerning to frightening.  Nothing to panic about, yet, but monitor nonetheless.

#7 - Bench Chris Capuano today.  His home/road splits are nasty, the Cardinals are hot, and Capuano has historically struggled against the Cards.

#6 - Need a bat on this short bench day?  Try Jonny Gomes, the lefty masher draws a very mediocre lefty in Aaron Laffey today in the home run friendly Rodgers Centre.

#5 - Carlos Gomez is a quality option for today too.  He's been heating up lately and draws a pitcher who has been roughed up recently.  You may want to keep him around too, his new approach more geared towards driving the ball is bound to translate to the stats soon.

#4 - Getting ahead of myself, the lefty Scott Diamond has a meeting with the Indians Friday.  Cleveland has been putrid vs. left handers and the offense as a whole has been asleep at the wheel since the All Star break.

#3 - After a stat deprived first two months (.283 21 R 4 HR 25 RBI 5 SB), Alex Rios has quietly and steadily been raking the ball under the radar.  He's batting .346 with 38 R 12 HR 35 RBI and 9 SB since June 1.  The signs were there for a big season early on, he just wasn't getting the couting stats, but as the weather has heated up in Chicago's bandbox the ball has started flying out.

#2 - I'm sorry for doubting you, Homer Bailey.  Everytime I have believed in you before you've smacked me in the face, so the start against the Astros after strong performances lately just seemed too good to be true.  Still, 5 BB's?  You're begging me to stay on the doubting side of the fence, aren't you?

#1 - Oh, Rickie Weeks.  Like Stubbs I've been looking at adding you for a while and just couldn't pull the trigger.  Wednesday's 4-4 with a homer outburst may be just what the doctor ordered to get his season long swoon righted.
