The Daily 10 - July 23

| More

#10 - It's been reported that Anthony Gose and Travis Snider will be the primary OF's until Jose Bautista comes back relegating Rajai Davis to 4th OF duty.  However, Davis will still draw starts vs. lefties and Toronto is scheduled to face 4 of them this week.  If another owner dropped him, pick him up.

#9 - I would have felt better about this matchup before the All Star break given the way these two teams are/were playing, but Erik Bedard vs. Jeff Samardzija has the makings of a pitcher's duel and they're both available in more than 50% of leagues.  Stream away.

#8 - Speaking of streamers, his ownership % is making it more and more difficult to stream him but Clayton Richard has a rare good opportunity away from Petco as he is playing up the coast in another pitcher's haven, San Francisco.  Have at it.

#7 - I am absolutely baffled the Astros have given closing duties to Francisco Cordero post trade.  By all means, pick him up if you need saves, but if the owner who had Wilton Lopez stashed dumped him pick him up.  I can't imagine Cordero keeping the job for too long, he's been declining year over year for some time and is nearing rock bottom in 2012.

#6 - I'm sure I will regret writing this, but here goes anyway - buy low on Jon Lester.  All of the periph's are there and his performance shows it, he's combined some poor luck with a lack of confidence and it all came together in a truly ugly performance Sunday vs. Toronto.  Do not start him until he gives you reason to, but after a couple of brutal starts coming up the schedule softens up.

#5 - If you're feeling tempted to start Chad Billingsley and Gavin Floyd in their first starts back from the DL, don't.  Floyd and his gopher issues may have issues with the home run friendly home environment as he kicks off the rust and Billingsley drawsa very difficult matchup.

#4 - Safe to drop Tyler Colvin now as the All Star break hit at the wrong time, he's only .179 with 5 R 0 HR and 1 RBI since.

#3 - This may be your last chance to get in on Chase Headley, he is a much better hitter away from Petco and as the trade deadline nears talks continue to heat up about moving him to a contender.

#2 - I may be on an island here, but I still don't trust Homer Bailey.  I've been on this ride before and right when you start to trust him he has a 3 IP 6 ER performance, with an outing against the lowly Astros on the hozion this doesn't smell right.

#1 - Welcome back, Ben Sheets.  I doubted you, and it's just two outings, but they were both fantastic starts.  Pick him up and start him with confidence.
