No. 10-After missing some time late last week with a stiff back Adrian Gonzalez doesn’t appear to have missed a beat collecting a couple of hits including a three run homer on Monday.    He had his hitting streak snapped just before the All Star break but is on his way to a strong second half with hits in each of the last two games since returning to the lineup.

No. 9-Kevin Youkilis looked comfortable in his return to Fenway.   Youk smacked two doubles while going 3-for-4 and scoring a run in the Red Sox 5-1 loss.

No. 8-Wade Miley was supposed to regroup after a rough stretch before the break, but Monday was not the bounce back owners had hoped for.   Miley lasted only 5 2/3 giving up eight hits and three runs and has returned to be nothing better than the occasional matchup starter at this point.

No. 7-Fantasy squads took a big hit last night as the Reds announced that Joey Votto needed surgery on his knee and will miss 3-4 weeks.

No. 6-The Yankees are welcoming the recent production they have been getting out of Eric Chavez.   Believe it or not Chavez’s success also has some fantasy implications.   As long as Chavez can hit consistently the Yanks can allow Alex Rodriguez to occasionally DH.   The additional rest should allow Rodriguez to stay fresh and contribute to your team through the summer.

No. 5-While Bryce Harper is garnering much of the Rookie of the Year talk, Angels’ rookie Mike Trout has to be in the discussion for Fantasy MVP.   Despite not starting the season in the big leagues, Trout has been a monster this season putting up numbers in every category.

No. 4-Carl Crawford returned to the Red Sox lineup for the first time this season and immediately contributed going 1-for-3 with two runs scored.

No. 3-Adrian Beltre has been a rock at third base this season and he looks to be in position to have a productive Tuesday.   Beltre has hammered Bartolo Colon to the tune of a .315 career average and four homeruns.

No. 2-Jair Jurjjens has rebounded nicely since an early season stint in the minors.   Jurrjens has logged three wins in four starts since the recall from Gwinett.   Tuesday he takes the mound against the Giants and should be able to build on that recent success.   If you are looking for a starter to stream in the second half Jurrjens is an attractive candidate.

No. 1-There are various reports that Brett Gardner is in danger of missing the entire season.   Owners who have sat on him this long will want wait on the official word, but the likelihood of the Yankee’s outfielder contributing very much for you are getting more and more slim.   If by some stretch Carl Crawford has gone unclaimed in your league, grab him now to replace the expectations you had for Gardner.
