No. 10 – Chase Headley has been a nice find for many fantasy owners looking for help at the third base slot. Headley won’t help you too much in the average department but he has the potential to contribute everywhere else. He slugged two home runs Monday, driving his season total to seven. Headley will give you an occasional steal and might be worth adding if you have a roster spot.

No. 9 – Adam Jones is the proud new owner of a shiny new multi-million dollar contract and a 19-game hitting streak. Jones is out of the gates quickly, finally showing the power and average combination that has been expected of him for the last several seasons. Given his age and development, Jones is working his way in to the first few rounds of drafts next season.

No. 8 – Though not the household name of Jones, Yonder Alonso has put together a nice little hitting streak of his own. Alonso had hit in 10 straight games before having his streak snapped after going 0-for-5 against the Chuicago Cubs on Monday. Alonso has first base and outfield eligibility and is probably available in your league. With Petco Park as his home address, Alonso will struggle to put up the power numbers that are expected of him, but he can still be a valuable contributor to your team.

No. 7 – Chris Sale has quietly put together an impressive season and put an exclamation point on that with a 15-strikeout performance Monday. Sale unquestionably has the talent to be a top-of-the-rotation starter, and once he settles in and gets some more innings in the big leagues he could develop in to a fantasy ace, as well.

No. 6 – Another young, talented lefty turned in an impressive performance Monday. Tampa Bay’s Matt Moore recovered from a couple of mediocre starts to pitch in to the eighth inning only yielding two earned runs, while striking out 10 batters. Moore took the loss in the duel with Chris Sale and the White Sox, dropping his record on the season to 1-5. His value is probably as low as it will get, and now is the time to make a move for Moore if you can pry him away from a less observant owner.

No. 5 – The Atlanta Braves lost their eighth straight game on Monday behind a poor outing from Tommy Hanson. Hanson only lasted into the fourth inning, giving up six earned runs on the way to his fourth loss of the season. Hanson has been a roller coaster early in the season, and Monday’s outing could have been much worse as the St. Louis Cardinals had the bases loaded with no outs in the first.

No. 4 – If you have played fantasy baseball for any length of time, you know you can never have too much pitching. Need further proof? Look no further than two of the aces of the game and their injuries and your finger nails chewed to the nubs! Roy Halladay exiting with a shoulder injury and his subsequent visit to the doctor on Tuesday is worrisome enough, but on Monday night the Los Angeles Angels’ Jered Weaver hobbled off the field in the first inning with an apparent back injury. Keep your eye on these situations and be prepared to add pitchers like Bud Norris, Daniel Hudson or Kyle Kendrick to fill in if you suffer a long-term loss.

No. 3 – After an incredibly cold April, Giancarlo Stanton has been on fire. Despite not hitting his first home run until April 29, Stanton now has smacked 12 long balls and is among the leaders in the National League. It is hard to watch him mash balls like he has been and realize that he is only 22 years old. Get used to this routine. Stanton has the makings of a fantasy stud for years to come.

No. 2 – Freddie Freeman had been hitting the ball really well for the Atlanta Braves until a problem with his eyes propelled him in to a slump. Freeman has had trouble seeing the ball as he battles dryness of his eyes. The Braves are hoping to have Freeman fitted with some sports goggles, a la Chris Sabo, so that he can return to his normal stance and start hitting the ball again. Keep Freeman out of your starting lineup until you are satisfied that he is back on track.

No. 1 – Ryan Sweeney was activated from the disabled list on Monday and plugged right back in to the Boston Red Sox outfield. Sweeney was up to the task, going 3-for-4 and scoring two runs. Sweeny has yet to produce power numbers, but he is a capable waiver wire addition if you are in need of outfield help.
