Through the Wire: Week 10

| More

3B/SS/OF Trevor Plouffe, Minnesota

Plouffe is on a serious power surge in June as he’s hit seven home runs in 11 games. The average is low and he has a small amount of RBI to go with the long balls, but he still needs to be added. The bonus with Plouffe is that he’s eligible at three different positions so you can basically plug him anywhere in your lineup. He’s still available in 30 percent of leagues.

SP Clay Buchholz, Boston

One of the hottest pitchers in the league right, Buchholz has thrown four straight impressive games and has gone 3-0 in that span. His strikeouts are up and his walks are down, but most importantly he hasn’t allowed more than two earned runs in any of the last four starts. Buchholz has gone at least seven innings in each affair as well.

OF Ben Revere, Minnesota

If you’re in need of stolen bases and a solid average than, look no farther than Revere. He’s hitting the cover off the ball right now, as he has seven multi-hit games in his last 11. He’s not a power threat at all, sitting at zero home runs, but he’s got 10 steals and a .339 average. Revere has stolen six bases in 10 games as well.

SP Phil Hughes, New York Yankees

Take away a May 28 start against the Los Angeles Angels, where Hughes allowed seven earned runs on 11 hits, and he’s been awesome over his last six starts. He has gone 5-1 and pitched at least six innings in all of those games except one. It’s still a crap shoot with him, but it looks like he’s following a similar path to Buchholz this season, and being on the Yankees surely helps as he gets plenty of run support. Hughes is available in 70 percent of leagues and does have some favorable matchups coming up.

SP A.J. Burnett, Pittsburgh

I don’t know why fantasy players are afraid to own Burnett. This guy had one horrific start, but other than that, he’s been great. He’s allowed 11 earned runs total over his last seven starts and is 5-0 in his last five games. Burnett is oddly still available in almost 40 percent of leagues, so I’d jump on him immediately if he’s out there.
